Pastor David Olson

Pastor Dave has served as a pastor of Mount Calvary since 1981, and as the senior pastor since 1990. After receiving degrees in mathematics and economics, Pastor Dave received his Masters of Divinity degree and completed his Doctor of Ministry study at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.
His favorite ministry tasks are preaching, teaching Bible studies, and working with the Confirmation program. His passion for helping people grow in their relationship with God finds expression in these areas of ministry and also in his devotional and curriculum writings and pastoral care. He is married to Joan and they have one college-age daughter, Megan.
Pastor Brenda Legred

Pastor Brenda came to Mount Calvary in 2008 after serving as a pastor for Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin. Most of Pastor Brenda's work has been in Christian higher education and in the Church, serving the American Lutheran Church in national fund raising, and then serving as the Director of Development for Concordia University. Her education includes a B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, a M.A. in Organizational Management from Concordia University, and a Masters of Divinity from Luther Seminary. Pastor Brenda is married to Joel, and together they enjoy music, theatre, and cooking.
Pastor Aaron David Werner

Pastor Aaron began serving at Mount Calvary the fall of 2016, coming from his first call at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids, MI. He received his B.S. in Community Relations and Peace & Justice from Michigan State University. After college, he served as missionary in Alexandria, Egypt. Pastor Aaron completed his Master of Divinity degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul and has worked as a chaplain in Boston and San Francisco. He is training to be a spiritual director and is passionate about peer-to-peer and small group ministries. Pastor Aaron’s wife, Emily, is also a pastor and spiritual director. They have two children, Miriam (5) and Elijah (3).

Trina first started working at Mount Calvary in 2000 and returned in 2005. Her work includes finances, property, human resources, communications and technology. She studied at the University of Minnesota in the areas of non-profit management and human resources. She is passionate about equipping members of Mount Calvary in every way they are called to serve others. Trina and her husband Dan love all things outdoors.
Director of Facilities

Kari has worked at Mount Calvary since 2001. As the Director of Facilities she is responsible for scheduling events, working with vendors and supervising the custodial team. Together they keep our building in tiptop shape! Kari attended Mankato State University and worked for the YMCA for many years. Kari was confirmed and married at Mount Calvary. She and her husband, Vince, live in Chaska with their yellow lab, Stella. They have three daughters, all of whom were baptized and confirmed at Mount Calvary.

Diane has been involved in the marketing initiatives of Mount Calvary and its many ministries since 2002. Her love of design and ability to understand the communication needs of our families and the surrounding community has helped in effectively conveying the message of Mount Calvary through the website, social media, and print. Diane has a Marketing degree from the University of Minnesota and training in graphic design. Diane loves the outdoors and spending time at the lake with her family.
Director of Accounting

Michele first started working in finance at Mount Calvary in 1993 and then returned in 2003. Michele has an Associate’s degree in accounting that enables her to perform all facets of financial reporting and responsibilities. She makes certain everything is properly accounted for from contributions, program budgets and ministry group funds. You may have passed her by on your drive to church and not even realized it, as one of her favorite modes of transportation is her bicycle. And as a long time member, she has both a personal and professional investment in the life of the church.
Julie came to work at Mount Calvary in 2000 and is responsible for technology. She has more than 26 years of experience in network and desktop operating systems and application software. Julie’s experience keeps Mount Calvary’s increasing use of technology running smoothly and efficiently. Julie also runs Joyful Computing, her own computer consulting business. Prior to starting her own business, she worked in network services and as a network administrator for several local companies. She has been a Mount Calvary member since 1989. Julie and her husband, Rob, have two sons, Jacob and Luke.
Director of Worship & Music

Mark has overseen the worship activities at Mount Calvary since 2010. He directs the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir and Saturday Band. Mark also serves as accompanist for the choirs at Minnetonka High School. Mark graduated from Augsburg College with a B.M. in Piano Performance and Departmental Honors in Conducting and Chamber Music. Mark has traveled extensively with the Global Mission Unit of the ELCA as music director for national events. In his spare time, Mark enjoys seeing movies, golfing and spending time with his wife Sarah and children James, Jeremiah, Sam and Eleanor.

Jill came to Mount Calvary in 2007. She previously worked at a Lutheran church in California as a Business Administrator and has served in various lay leadership positions in other churches. Jill is a graduate of Luther College. As part of the Worship and Music Team, Jill assists with seasonal and weekly planning, the weekly bulletins, writes and edits much of the spoken liturgy, coordinates all aspects of worship from liturgy to music to worship assistants, and directs Bel Canto. She also assists with administrative duties for the Academy of Music. Jill lives in Chaska with her husband Spence and daughter Britta.

Mary came to the Academy of Music at Mount Calvary in 2005. Mary's experience is steeped in music with 25 years in the First violin section of The South Dakota Symphony, free lance musician, piano accompanist for public school programs, and church musician. Mary grew up in a large musical family. She lives in the world that is the mission of Mount Calvary Academy of Music: Mentoring students in musical skill and sensitivity as a means of personal development, creative expression and service. Mary and her husband, an ELCA minister, have two daughters, and a Boston Terrier named Marty named for Martin Luther.
Children's Choir Director
Sarah Abelsen has served as the Director of Children’s Choirs at Mount Calvary since 2012. She attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where she received a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education with a vocal emphasis. Along with her work at Mount Calvary, Sarah is also an Elementary Music Teacher in the Minnetonka School District at Minnewashta Elementary where she teaches Classroom Music and directs the Minnewashta 5th Grade Choir. Sarah enjoys reading, cooking, being outside and spending time with her husband, Mark, and their kids James, Jeremiah, Sam and Eleanor.

Hailing from Renville, Minnesota and attending St. Olaf College to achieve a Bachelor’s of Church Music degree, Jeremy has served on the Mount Calvary’s Worship and Music team since 2012. Jeremy has strong passions around church music and hymn singing. In addition to his position at Mount Calvary, Jeremy is also a full-time Information Technology Leader at Cummins, Inc. In his spare time, Jeremy is active on the Program and Publicity committees of the Twin Cities American Guild of Organists (TCAGO), going to music clubs, concerts, traveling and spending time with friends eating food at many of the Twin Cities’ best restaurants.
Andrea Fieldhouse Griner

Andrea has worked in Family Ministry at Mount Calvary since 2001. Her passion is teaching and wanting a God-life for children, youth and adults. Andrea graduated from Moorhead State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology and Human Development. She supplemented her education by taking specialty training in suicide prevention, conflict resolution and crisis intervention. Andrea started professional ministry as a Youth Director in Rockford, Illinois. Andrea is a Certified Spiritual Director, is married to Lyle, and is an aunt, a storyteller and pretends to be an artist. She loves books, rocks and the North Shore.

Ben has worked with the senior high youth group including The Vine since 2008. He also runs special events for our middle school students, and our summer mission trips! Ben is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, where he worked extensively with the chaplain’s office and was very active in music ministry and youth ministry programs. Ben spent several summers working at youth camps as support staff and leading program staff. As a professional youth minister, Ben teaches youth directors and camp counselors how to effectively lead games as a part of youth ministry. Ben lives in Bloomington with his wife, Andrea and son, Aaron.

Ketti came to Mount Calvary preschool as a teacher in 2005. She earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from The College of St. Scholastica. Ketti feels that teaching is a gift that God has given her and that there is nothing better than seeing God brighten the eyes of a child. She is excited for the opportunity to share God’s love with the children and to help them understand the unfaltering love God has for us. Ketti loves Pinterest and creating everything and anything! She feels there is nothing better than a handmade gift and a heartfelt card.
Faith Formation Assistant

Brenda was an active volunteer at Mount Calvary before she began working with the Faith Formation team in September 2012. She works to get kids excited about their faith journey, and helps families find ways to be involved in the church. Brenda grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota and graduated with a Business Degree from Moorhead State University and an MBA in Logistics Management from the University of Minnesota. Brenda, her husband John, and their two boys have been members of Mount Calvary since 1993. Brenda is passionate about making music, especially as part of the North Country Girls duo.
Sunday School, Pre-K
Randi has been a teacher at Mount Calvary Preschool since 2007, and began leading Sunday School in 2013. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College and a degree in Elementary Education K-6 from Macalester College. Randi believes in providing a warm and loving atmosphere for all children. Randi grew up on the north shore of Lake Minnewashta in the home that her grandfather built. She has close ties to the community and still mourns the loss of Leach’s Resort on Minnewashta and Bacon Drug Store in downtown Excelsior. Randi and her husband Kristjan have three children in the Minnetonka schools.

Lori has served on the Church Council, prepares communion and is a Communion Assistant, which she finds very fulfilling. She also serves on the board for Luther Park located in Danbury, Wisconsin. Lori has been attending Mount Calvary since 2002, when she and her family moved to Shorewood. She is married to Cal and has two adult children, Corey and Alli. During the winter months, she loves to get away for the occasional trip to southwest Florida. During the summer months, she can be found in her garden or with Cal on their boat.

Pat joined Mount Calvary as an Administrative Assistant in 2012 after working in the business office at Wayzata Community Church for 14 years. Working and learning in that busy, large-church environment prepared her to make a smooth transition into Mount Calvary. Pat is passionate about assisting the pastors and the business administrator, and interacting with the members and volunteers who support the staff on a day-to-day basis. Pat holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Pat and her husband, Kevin, joined Mount Calvary in 2011. They have three adult children, seven grandchildren, and a collie named Hans.

Chris began working at Mount Calvary in 2007. With a degree in Marketing and a Masters in Education, Chris has wide experience in the fields of business, education, social services, and church life. Before joining Mount Calvary, Chris was the Director of the Upward Bound Program in Lynn, Massachusetts. Chris works to integrate service throughout all ministry programs, and to ensure that Mount Calvary is a leader in community involvement. Chris and his faithful companion, Iree, an 8 year old Sheltie, enjoy all things outdoors, especially long nature walks.
Linda began teaching 30 years ago at Mount Calvary Preschool and became Director in 2003. She is always looking for new activities, especially those that involve music and that help support the preschool’s curriculum. She enjoys interacting with parents and families, working with children, and watching them grow and develop. Linda received a B.S. degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State University and is licensed in Early Childhood through Crown College. Linda enjoys sewing, camping, and playing the piano. Her greatest joy is spending as much time as she can with her grandchildren!
José began working with Mount Calvary in 2003 as a part-time cleaner. He began as Lead Custodian in 2010. He is responsible for set-up of events, regular maintenance and improving the building efficiency. José lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Sixta and children, Alexia and Jonathan.
Alex and Nadia Romochka
Alex and Nadia Romochka started work as custodian and housekeeper at Mount Calvary in 2011. They came from Ukraine to be with their son’s family who had moved to the United States. Alex began as a cleaner for his daughter-in-law’s company and quickly impressed the Mount Calvary team with his ability to improve building operations. He provides around the clock supervision of Mount Calvary. Alex and Nadiya reside in the church house on George Street. They have two sons and four grandchildren.
Cassandra McNally received her Bachelor’s (2008) and Master’s (2012) degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in Vocal Performance. During her time with the UNI Opera Ensemble, she performed the roles of Elizabeth Proctor (Ward’s The Crucible), Mauyra (Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea) and Rosalinde (J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus). Throughout the Twin Cities, she has worked with the Minnesota Opera and Mill City Opera, among other companies. Cassandra's most recent role was Carmen (Peter Brook’s La Tragédie de Carmen) as a guest artist at the University of Minnesota, fall 2014.
Cassandra began teaching voice in 2007 while finishing her Bachelor’s degree and she has gained extensive experience and expertise along the way. Teaching both privately and in the classroom has given her the tools to build and sustain a successful voice studio. Cassandra works as an administrator at Sarah Jane's Music School, and holds a position on the Worship and Music team at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior, Minnesota. She heads music ensembles and classes as often as she gets the opportunity! Cassandra can be found in the tech booth at Mount Calvary, as Technical Director, in the classrooms teaching voice lessons, as a section leader in the Chancel Choir, and as a director of JuBELLee and Bel Canto.
