Mount Calvary Foundation

Mission

To be faithful stewards of the assets put in our care and to carry out the work of Christ by putting those assets to work at Mount Calvary, in the local community and throughout the world.

How We Give

The Foundation acts on Funding Requests submitted by organizations or individuals with specific funding needs. After a review by a quorum of trustees, a request is either accepted or denied. The foundation attempts to make grants in equal amounts each year to each of the three mission areas of Mount Calvary, the local community and the world. The foundation is committed to distributing 5% of its total assets each year.

How We Receive

The foundation receives funds in four primary ways.

  • Often memorials are given upon the death of a loved one by the family and friends of the departed. These memorials become part of the foundation if specific instructions directing them for other purposes are not provided.
  • Many Foundation members make annual gifts as part of their philanthropy.
  • Gifts can be made to the Foundation as a part of estate planning. This can be done through a will or by filling out a Legacy Card  for an Estate Gift. This is a way to remember your church family and help continue its work.
  • The Foundation also receives funds through the sale of columbarium niches. For those who wish to have their ashes inurned in the Mount Calvary columbarium, a portion of the proceeds is a charitable gift to the foundation and eligible for income tax credit

Memorials

Joyce "Gus" Gustafson Memorial

Joyce Gustafson was a member of Mount Calvary for many years and a local music teacher in the elementary schools. She participated in leadership of children's music programs and was a wonderful role model for both kids and adults. In 2005 a memorial fund was established in her name to support music programs at Mount Calvary and in the local community.

Chris Garibaldi Memorial

A memorial plaza was dedicated to Mount Calvary member Chris Garibaldi at Freeman Park in 2005. Chris was an energetic family man who loved nothing more than playing with his own kids and other kids from the neighborhood. The plaza at Freeman is a great place for families to gather during activities at the park. The foundation donated funds to help build the plaza.
