Small Group Nesting Vision
The Small Group Leadership Ministry Team, in partnership with other ministries at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church , is committed to creating atmospheres that make, build up, and send out disciples of Jesus Christ.

Small groups create safe and inviting spaces for people to care for each other and learn together. However, it is not the individuals or their experience that give the group its true center and direction. The group is designed by God, who is continually creating, redeeming, and sanctifying his creation. It is our privilege to offer small group ministry for the purpose of building up the body of Christ. Look at the offerings listed here. We hope that there is one that fits you. We try to keep the listings current but sometimes things slip through the cracks. It is alwayswise to connect with the group leader if you are interested. Please call us if you have any questions or an idea for a small group, we'd love to hear from you. Contact Mary K. Klein at 952-474-0427.
Centering Prayer (Sitting Meditation)
Leader: Judith Hassig, 952-443-1879, jhassig@mchsi.com
Thursdays, 7:00pm, Fireside Room
Prayer involves both speaking to God and listening to God. Centering Prayer is a form of silent prayer in which we quiet our thoughts and listen with open hearts. It?s a special time to sit and experience God?s presence amid the quiet and supportive fellowship of others. This prayer ministry of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church is open to anyone at any time; you do not need to be a member of Mount Calvary or attend all sessions.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Leaders: Mary Lorence, 952-401-1080, Corinne Peterson, 952-474-8286, Roxanne Landon, 952-474-0856, rlandon@mchsi.com
We gather informally the 1st Tuesday of the month in Room 207 from 10:00am - 12:30pm and the 3rd Sunday of the month in the Fireside room from 9:30am - 11:00am.
Mount Calvary women gather to knit prayer shawls which are provided to those needing comfort due to illness, loss, or challenging times. The shawls provide warmth along with unconditional love. Those who receive the shawls are acknowledged and lifted up in prayer by those who create them. The practice of knitting in a pattern of three represents the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Prayers are said as the shawls are prepared. This is a tremendous outreach to those in need, and it's a wonderful way to connect with others wanting to do something for those that need to be comforted.

CALLING ALL QUILTERS! Looking for any and all quilters who would like to get together to make quilts for various homeless and women's shelters in the Minneapolis area. We provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity. Even if you don't know how to sew, but would like to learn how, please call Jessica Fredrickson to let her know of your interest. We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month in the Undercroft from 10am to 3pm.
Serving Our Sisters
The Simpson House Women?s Shelter is located one block north of Franklin Avenue, at Community Emergency Services. The guests are adult women who are working part or full time and may struggle with mental illness or chemical dependency. Since this is a relatively new volunteer opportunity they do not always fill every night with meals. Serving these women will only take a few short hours of your time each month and yet will give so much to those who have so little. Please join us in this opportunity for adult Mount Calvary Women to prepare and serve once or twice a month for about 25 women who need a warm, nutritious meal.
Tuesday Morning Women's Bible Study
9:00 - 10:00am in Heritage Hall
Pastor Dave leads this "come when- you-are-able" group of women every Tuesday morning on a journey through the Scriptures. Each week Pastor Dave provides a background introduction to each day's readings, which is then followed by insightful discussion. This Bible study is open to any and all women, is suitable for those who have never done Bible Study before and also for those who have never stopped.

Leader: Andrea Fieldhouse, 952-474-8893 Ext. 125, andrea.fieldhouse@mountcalvary.org
Monday Morning - 9:00 - 10:00am at

Continuing on from our People of Purpose study last Lenten season, this is a group of women who gather for many purposes. Although first and foremost is the need to set aside time for and with God, we also learn, laugh, share stories and pray! Our ages and stories vary, but our common bond of faith leads us to grow. Come join our merry adventure!
