Preschool

Take a walk down our hallway; take a minute to experience our Preschool. The happy sounds of children playing and learning to share toys, spaces, and feelings will meet your ears. Joyful greetings can be heard as parents and preschoolers enter.

Mount Calvary Preschool mirrors the core values of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Our preschool is founded on grace, equipped for service, and prepared to build community. As a part of Mount Calvary's Faith Formation Department, our Preschool is an outreach program that reaches beyond the church.

We offer 11 different Preschool classes and five toddler classes during the school year. In the summer we offer two summer sessions and Vacation Bible School. Mount Calvary Preschool is licensed by the State of Minnesota (Department of Human Services and the Health Department). We also are in self-study from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Our curriculum promotes the trust, growth, and independence of children through play. Our teachers facilitate this trust, growth and independence by appropriate room arrangement, units and themes, and interaction with children, teachers, and parents. Storytelling, poetry, finger plays, music, art, physical and natural science and cognitive games are provided as learning activities. Experiences in the classroom are also designed to stimulate a desire for children to develop language skills, understand and use numbers and begin to write. We use "Everyday Math" program in our classrooms. Spanish exposure is part of our afternoon classes.

Extra Services at Mount Calvary Preschool

We offer Lunch Bunch, Play Break, Camp Butterfly and Curb Service for families who are registered at Mount Calvary Preschool. Some families use these services regularly, and some families attend them occasionally. To view more information about our extra services click here.
