What do we do?

  • We work on houses in the area! Most common jobs are painting, with occasional deck or wheelchair ramp building.
  • The Junior High trip will also spend 2 days running a local kids' club.
  • We have lively worship, engaging group devotions, and make lots of new friends from around the country!

What do I bring?

  • Besides the obvious clothes, toiletries, etc., be prepared to sleep on the floor. A blow-up air mattress works best.
  • Be sure you have sunscreen and a water bottle! It's no fun working outside if you're hot, and dehydrated!
  • Also, be sure to bring clothes to move and work in: old basketball shorts and t-shirts work great; spaghetti strap tank tops and Soffe shorts don't.
  • Showers are usually group showers: flip-flops and a swim suit would be a good idea.
  • You will be responsible for food on the way down and back: bring some money for a few fast food meals and snacks. Snacks are fine in the vans, but discouraged in the sleeping room (mice and bugs will love you otherwise!) There is also a camp store.
  • On the senior high trip, we need to bring all our own tools. Our group will have some basic tools along: hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc., but you should bring some of your own. Most of the jobs are painting jobs, so bring along some paintbrushes, a roller, roller covers, paint tray (or those liners are a good cheap alternative and work fine), and a scraper. We can usually find whatever else you may need at camp, or can make a stop at a store.
